Yesterday was a fascinating day for me as I returned to Obus Academy after a short three-month break to attend their Advanced Reflexology for Pain Management course led by Denise Hanlon. Denise is a highly experienced reflexologist and teacher at Obus for over 20 years. During my diploma, Denise introduced us to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and linking methods, which I now incorporate into my clinic treatments.
The course attracted twelve reflexologists from various corners of the country, each with different goals. My aim was to deepen my knowledge of foot reflexology without committing to a specific specialisation such as oncology, fertility, or facial reflexology. Although we practiced foot reflexology, this is also interchangable with hand reflexology.
The day started with theoretical discussions on relevant muscle groups, followed by practical sessions where we learned new sequences using a Thai massage stick. I discovered specific sequences for addressing issues related to:
Neck, Stiffiness, Pain, Tightness etc,
TMJ Syndrome
Upper body ailments (shoulder, arms, elbows, writst & hand),
Spinal issues, lower back pain, bulging discs etc,
Hips, and pelvis issues.
I was pleasantly surprised by the level of detail we delved into for each area. While I wish no one experiences pain in these regions, I am excited to apply my new knowledge to help others in their recovery journey. I have already updated my website and plan to share my experience on social media soon.
